On fathers and sons
Father-son relations can be complex. I love my Dad, but he has also hurt me at times trying to discipline me. He is still alive but almost 90 now. Who knows? He may outlive me.
As a teenager, one of my favorite novels was Fathers and Sons in English translation by Ivan Turgenev. And I think Freud was largely correct that there is often a subconscious conflict between sons and fathers.
Father’s Day is June 19 this year.
