On a novel
Sometimes at my age and in my condition, it can be hard to remember exactly what happened in your youth.
But I wrote a senior high school paper partly on Graham Geene’s novel The End of the Affair.
I had a conversation with an intense teenage crush who had seemed to have also read it. I said the main character and narrator Bendrix was not really an atheist as he claims. He was just a sinner and very bitter.
She did not agree. We broke up a few months later anyway..
