On audio and visual problems and a note

I have some tinnitus in my ears. It is a dulling sound that seems to have come from listening to a lot of loud pop and movies. When looking outside on my outdoor chair to relax. I sometimes see small black images that look a bit like birds at first but soon go away. I am not schizophrenic and would never act out on imagined things.

Also, my next-door neighbor who got a bit angry at me for using his porch nicely fixed up my rather ragged outdoor chair when I moved it to what is clearly my own outdoor property. Most people are decent.

Another brief poem

“Need” by yours truly

No need to write it down.
You don’t need a shopping list
Or obsess on how you and she kissed,
But it is something you have missed.
Yes.

A brief poem and a note

“Distant” by yours truly

Father is now at a distant point
But still there in a way
Advising from afar, silently,
To take care.

Note
I find writing brief poems and short fiction to be therapy. Some may say that is because I am crazy. So be it.

The Best Buy technician told me today that I could have paid much less for my current kind of crappy computer, but he may have just been mad that I made fun of one of his coworkers. He did fix the computer.

I have two or three ideas for three short new books.

The first is the one already mentioned about US federal politics. The second is about poetry dealing with night. The third would be a “campus novella.” I have spent a lot of time on university campuses so have some memories and imagination of my time there.

A brief poem

“Night Birds” by yours truly

What do you say?
What to do?
Just a few night birds,
A flock: how do they know to stay together?
Maybe crows in moonlight.

Orange lights in the distance
From some business
Like wildfire.
To the right, bright electric white light.
It will be alright.

“Boring” by yours truly

Pain is so boring.
Makes you want sleep and snoring.
There can be no ignoring that
Pain is boring.
Sometimes you might even want whoring,
But do not: this a warning.

Just two items today

First, I got temporarily cut off from Internet and TV service for reasons I don’t really understand. The cutoff lasted about a week. The weird thing is that while I like listening to pop music on YouTube, I had listened to the songs so much that I could still remember them in my head.

Second, my next-door neighbor got a bit irritated with me for using an outdoor chair on what is admittedly his porch; he said it was “intrusive.” I moved my chair closer to my apartment, and we joked I would have a better view of the sky and landscape now. But it made me think about property rights and privacy. Do you really own property outside your indoor home? I am sensitive about this because I was tortured by police for what store owners called trespassing even though I was a paying customer and not touching anyone.

A poem///

“Night” by yours truly

Night:
Causes a certain fright.
But it will be alright.
Just let in the dark light.
The city is bright at night
With bright business light.

Two poems

“I scream” by yours truly

Ice cream truck,
Just my luck.
Releasing loud jingles
(With the wind it mingles.)
Into the air
As if I care.

But it is a bit spooky.
There was a horror TV show
About an ice cream truck driver
Who plays jingles to lure in kids
And then kills them.

There is also a pre-adolescent
And pretty Latina girl
Riding a bike around
My apartment building,
I guess for exercise.

I am not a pedophile,
But she is a bit young
And attractive.
I try not to look at any stranger
For more than a second anyway.

And there are the wind storms,
The wind.

“Starburst” by yours truly

Like a starburst
From the cental bulb
Of a flashlight at night.
Little lines of white,
Spreading out
With some color,
Like the sun
But gentler
Because at night
And artificial.
