On writing inspiration

I am trying to imagine the model for the wife of the main male character in my current work–in-progress on U.S. politics.

It may be a high school crush who eventually broke up with me with a political ambition and became a senior U.S. Congressional staffer for a while, and we had a brief affectionate but awkward talk outside the committee room while we were in our 30s, and I was a reporter who did not know she would be there.

She was a pretty and voluptuous blonde, but I was wild as a teenager. And she may have thought me a reputation risk for her.

On Chrisitan proselytism

I was recently knocked by and briefly chatted with a rather sweet young woman at my front door who was handing out two cards about becoming newborn Christian.

At a social club in my last kind of tourist city. I started chatting with a fianced couple next to me on the upfloor, outdoor deck. He was kind and intelligent. He said he was born again Christian ahead of his soon ahead marriage.

I responded Catholics are not really reborn in terms of language, but  I  thinhk there good ones and bad. I was trying to get over my badneess, but the womam I thought could help me broke up after a few months. “Sometimes you haveo make it on your own.” –U2

On Mass

All Is Vanity

The words of the Preacher,[a] the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

Vanity[b] of vanities, says the Preacher,
vanity of vanities! All is vanity.
What does man gain by all the toil
at which he toils under the sun?
A generation goes, and a generation comes,
    but the earth remains forever.
The sun rises, and the sun goes down,
and hastens[c] to the place where it rises.
The wind blows to the south
    and goes around to the north;
around and around goes the wind,
and on its circuits the wind returns.
All streams run to the sea,
    but the sea is not full;
to the place where the streams flow,
    there they flow again.
All things are full of weariness;
    a man cannot utter it;
the eye is not satisfied with seeing,
nor the ear filled with hearing.
What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there a thing of which it is said,
    “See, this is new”?
It has been already
    in the ages before us.
11 There is no remembrance of former things,[d]
nor will there be any remembrance
of later things[e] yet to be
    among those who come after.

From a rather long Old Testament reading today. I have been more interested lately in Old Testament reading lately, maybe because I have been through a lot of pain lately and juust don’t want to forgive persecutors in a Christ-like way, though I agree with the idea..

On politics and a new novella

I think Nancy Peloosi should go ahead with her planned trip to Taiwan, and China is being a bully by threatening to shoot down her plane. Taiwan is independent until it does not want to be.

On the new novvella, still trying’ to work through the marriage issue.

A joke./poem

“Cold” by yours truly

You’re as cold as rice,

“Willing to sacrifice our love.”

Like sushi rice

To me not always nice.

I will go away.

It doth suffice.

But it has been sometimes nice,

Still stalled on my latest novella on politics but don’t want give it up just yet.

Here is a new poem.

“Maraschino” by yours truly

The cherry juice fell by mistake upon your shorts.

The shorts were chartreuse in color.

Don’t worry brother

(Not even if there won’t be another).

You could soon recover.

Sometimes life is like a choking noose

But it may be a ruse.

Just hang loose mongoose.

Maraschino cherry.

Verry.

Just a lousy poem

“Loud” by yours truly

Loud cars,

Awkward bars.

Men from Mars,

Women from genius.

Have hesitation still

Looking out the window sill.

But sometimes “stirrings still.”

A poem and a thought on Mass

“Skyscrape” by yours truly

Evening skyscaper, full of white clouds (escape her).

Fewer sounds

But still some barking dogs and loud cars.

The clouds are beautiful.

Indisputable.

On Mass

The Old Testament reading stayed in my mind more today. It was about some of the people in Sodom being innocent. It made me think of how the U.S. military must have had to bombard areas at war with while knowing there would be collateral damage. “War is hell.”

Random

Not sure what to say today.

I have stalled on my current novella project “for reasons unknown.” May just be running out of money, Haha,

SNL had a satirical skit making fun of the way young people use the word “random,” but I think it is true sometimes, like the word chaos.

Just another brief poem today (my apartment has been infested with irritating flies; it may be a mid-to late-summer problem in this area: fly storm-19).

“Light” by yours truly

The play of light on a parked car’s back window

Looks like brilliant firework.

It may make you smirk (but don’t call me a jerk).

Sometimes I wonder if I only imagine things

Like jewels, dresses, and wedding rings.
