A brief poem and a comment

“Knock” by yours truly
That knock on the door.
Something you may not ignore.
When no one is really there.
Sometimes I want to swear.
Only wind, ill portend.

A comment

I said to a social media friend lately that I really hate the idea of “revenge porn” because it happened to a woman I liked in high school. They were going through a breakup, and she was a bit drunk. But the ex-boyfriend made fun of her with the video of her breasts. He eventually destroyed the tape at the behest of a new girlfriend. The social media friend said, “This should be illegal!!” Yes, and I should have beat the guy up.

On night

Was having an online chat yesterday about night and day. My friend celebrates sunlight, but I prefer darkness. Night makes it easier to calm down, sort of meditate, and generate new ideas.

There was an REM song with the line “Pining for the moon” and a brief Chinese poem about a man who falls out of his boat trying to hug the moon.

I will try to continue my “Night Swimming” as REM called its song. And “I have been one acquainted with the night,” wrote Robert Frost.

On “Daysleeper” by REM

I have been thinking about this song a lot because from the video for it, it seems to be set in East Asia, where I lived a few years and where I sometimes had trouble sleeping at night. I once took a day off of work because my insomnia got so bad.

The lead singer of REM is gay, but I like and respect his songs and videos. One line from the song is: “I cried the other night; I don’t even know why.”

I said this in a past post, I have no problem with gay people as long as they are not trying to physically hurt straight people.”

“White, Grey, Blue” by yours truly

White and grey clouds above
The foothills
Beneath clear blue sky.
Will there be rain?

On Mass

The sermon today. It was about doubting Thomas in the Gospels. The main quote was something to the effect of Jesus saying, “Blessed are those who have not seen but still believe.”

The pastor reminded it is still Easter Season and Mercy Sunday.

The Bible quote made me think of losing people who you can longer see or touch but still influence you mentally and emotionally.

A poem/joke

“Squirrels” by yours truly
I don’t like sex with squirrels! I don’t like sex with squirrels !
Maybe girls,
But not underage ones.

Two new poems

“Extreme” by yours truly
The pain can be so extreme
That sometimes it is like a dream.
Try some Aspercream
And stay with the team.
Things are not always what they seem.

“Quiet” by yours truly
“I listen to music as much as possible.”
“I like it too at times,
But often my brain needs quiet.
The problem with pop music I listen to
Is that sometimes the lyrics get stuck in your head,
Sometimes annoyingly.”

Some poems

“Songs” by yours truly
“I’d like to fill the world
With silly pun songs.
What’s wrong with that?
I’d like to know
Cause here I go again.
I pun you. Yes, I do.”
— With apologies to Paul McCartney

“Contain” by yours truly
Can you contain her
In the container of your mind?
Or just explain her?
Probably not.
You got what you got.
It is what it is.

Facebook seems to have censored me again for bad jokes. Having sex with small animals is not a good idea, even in your imagination. I will improve my ways you cute squirrels.

Five brief poems

1) “Towel” by yours truly
Towel,
Throw it in and
Begin again.
No shame in that.

Even thrown violently on the hard floor
(not a mat).
After the violence and a shower,
Use the towel to dry off.
And stay as dry as you can man.

2) “Acidic” by yours truly
Acidic tears
Over the years,
Burning my face.
Such disgrace,
Like handling chlorine,
If you know what I mean.

3) “Lamps” by yours truly
Bought some Himalayan salt rock lamps.
They are supposed to help you relax.
Something about negative ions.
The store owner said,
“How they work does not matter, if they work.”

4) “Coughing” by yours truly
Coughing and crying
In the morning.
There is no denying,
But keep trying,
On truth relying.

5) “Contain” by yours truly
Can you contain her?
In a container of your mind?
Or just explain her?
Probably not.

A poem

“Metaphor” by yours truly
Metaphor, you’re the one I adore.
I believe we have met before.
Not trying to make literary analysis and poetry.
Call the notary.

Yes literary analysis can be a bore,
Paralysis from analysis?
Even if a snore, but please don’t go find a whore.
It it may just take time.
It is not a crime,
But can also just take time,
If you like rhyme.
